Many mothers, burdened by poverty and lack of resources, face the heart-wrenching reality of being considered unfit to raise their children. This issue extends beyond our local area of Lafayette, Indiana; it is a national crisis, with Indiana being at the center. Alarmingly, children from low-income families, particularly those of single mothers, are disproportionately removed from their homes. It's a sobering fact that around 70% of these separations could be preventable. These mothers, capable and caring, are often deprived of the necessary support, leading to family breakdowns and lasting impacts on their children.
We believe in valuing every human life through ongoing, Christ-centered support for women and children. From the outset of pregnancy and throughout their journey in motherhood, we are there for women, the majority of whom we serve are managing life at or below the poverty line.
In 2022, Bravely Women’s Health in Lafayette, Indiana, became an affiliate of Every Mother’s Advocate (ĒMA) based out of Pompano Beach, Florida.
Our goal is to help women in Lafayette, Indiana achieve lasting stability and flourish in their roles as mothers, preserving families and reducing the ripple effect of family separation.
Our hope in integrating the evidence-based ĒMA program into our comprehensive care model is to help at-risk mothers who choose life have the support system they need to reach stability, break generational cycles, and flourish.
In the first year of providing this program- 100% of mothers and children who were at risk stayed together, 66% of mothers achieved stable employment, and 80% of mothers improved their parenting practices.
These success rates are a testament to the program's potential to significantly mitigate the widespread issue of family separation, sweetening the lives of mothers and children in Lafayette, Indiana.
