FAQS: Your STI Testing Questions answered
What is an STI?

A sexually transmitted infection (STI), often called an STD, is an infection passed through sexual contact. Many STIs do not cause symptoms right away, which is why testing is important even if you feel fine.

When should I get tested?

You may want to schedule STI testing if:

-You have new or multiple partners
-You are experiencing unusual symptoms
-A partner has tested positive
-You are pregnant or think you might be
-You simply want clarity and reassurance

Can I get tested for STIs if I'm on my period?

Yes! You can still get tested at any point in your cycle. Our team is experienced in handling testing during menstruation, so most tests remain accurate. If you prefer, you can schedule your test after your period—it’s completely up to you.

How soon can I get my results?

Most test results are available within a week. Your provider will review your results with you and discuss next steps for treatment or follow-up care if needed.

What happens if my test is positive?

Our team will explain your results clearly and guide you through treatment options, so you know exactly what steps to take next.

Can my partner get tested if I test positive?

Yes. Your partner can receive confidential, accurate testing, and our team can guide both of you through any necessary treatment. We’re here to support you both with care and clear information.

Can I get a full-panel STI test?

Yes! You can choose a full-panel test, which screens for the most common STIs, including chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, HIV, hepatitis B and C, and sometimes trichomoniasis. Our team will help tailor the tests to your needs and answer any questions you have—so you get a clear, comprehensive picture of your sexual health. Testing is confidential, accurate, and free.

What does the full-panel STI test include?

To give you a complete view of your sexual health, you full-panel STI test might involve a urine sample, a few simple swabs, and a quick blood draw. You can choose to decline any part of the testing if you prefer, though skipping certain samples may affect which results can be accurately detected. Our team will guide you through every step with care and respect, so you can make informed decisions about your testing.

Are STI tests covered by insurance?

STI testing at Bravely is completely free, and you do not need insurance to receive care.
